Episode 62: What Works Wednesday: Information without implementation is useless

Welcome to What Works Wednesday! Today, we're highlighting a crucial concept: Information without implementation is useless. It’s not enough to have a solid financial plan or business strategy—what really matters is turning that knowledge into action. Without implementation, even the best advice or plan becomes wasted effort. Let’s focus on taking actionable steps to ensure that information drives real value in our lives.

Hey everyone, welcome back to another episode of What Works Wednesday. Today I'm gonna talk about a phrase that I use a lot with clients, with business owners, just in my life in general that I think is really necessary and it's not rocket science. I think you'd probably understand this or know this, but sometimes we don't put words to it. And that phrase is implementation, information, sorry I'm already messing it up, course, information.

without implementation is useless. Think about that for a second. If you have information, if you have a valuable financial plan, you have a consulting strategy, you have a coach who's telling you, a business coach or an executive coach telling you what you need to be doing and giving you all the information, but you don't take the time to implement it or they don't walk alongside you to implement that, it's useless. It's just wasted time.

wasted dollars, wasted energy, because it hasn't actually transitioned from information into real value. It's not driving actual value in your life. I see this as a financial planner all the time, truly. I see people who come to me and basically say, you know, I was given this financial plan by XYZ advisor in the past. You know, they give me the 85 page printout that the financial planning portal gave them. And they're like,

We didn't do anything with this. And it's like, okay, you have this plan. It's good stuff. Your advisor isn't stupid. They're really smart. The software is really smart. This makes a lot of sense, but it's essentially become a doorstop or a tool to help you fall asleep at night. If you need to read it to fall asleep, it hasn't converted itself into real actionable items. It hasn't been implemented to actually change your finances.

Same thing, my business coach is wonderful, sent me this huge plan, options one through 20 of things I could be doing in my business to really drive the desired outcome that I want for myself and for my clients. And if I never take that, if I never sit down with that and chew on it and say, right, what am I working on right now here, here, and here? It's not gonna go anywhere. It's not gonna actually drive value. They just put in a ton of work.
